DS Group Unveils Data-Driven Climate Strategy on Earth Day, Aligns Growth with India’s NDC Goals
DS Group announces a comprehensive climate action strategy on Earth Day, aligning with India’s NDC goals. The initiative includes a full GHG inventory, renewable energy transition, circular economy practices, and LEED-certified sustainable operations, reinforcing its leadership in ESG-driven growth.
At the center of this initiative is the development of a comprehensive Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory for the financial year 2024–25. This inventory will cover direct operations, energy consumption, and supply chain activities, in alignment with Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions. The exercise is aimed at enabling targeted, data-driven interventions across the entire value chain.
The audit process encompasses the full spectrum of emissions, including those from direct operations, purchased energy, and critical supply chain functions. By identifying key emission drivers, DS Group is transitioning from broad sustainability commitments to precise, evidence-based actions. The approach embeds climate considerations into governance frameworks and future strategic decisions, ensuring measurable environmental outcomes.
On the occasion, Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar stated that the Group’s multi-dimensional strategy places decarbonization and resource integrity as essential performance metrics. He emphasized that DS Group is accelerating its transition to renewable energy to reduce the carbon intensity of its products and services. Simultaneously, the organization is advancing circular economy practices to optimize water and material usage while engaging supply chain partners in sustainable sourcing to address indirect environmental impacts. He added that future expansions will undergo climate-risk evaluation to maintain alignment with India’s updated NDC goals.
The Group’s sustainability leadership is reinforced by its headquarters achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification under the United States Green Building Council’s existing building operations and maintenance program. The facility has also secured LEED Zero Carbon certification, establishing a benchmark in sustainable and carbon-neutral operations.
Within India’s industrial ecosystem, DS Group’s proactive stance demonstrates how private enterprises can drive the national transition toward sustainability. The company has voluntarily adopted high standards of carbon accounting, supported by a governance framework that reports zero regulatory non-compliance, no stakeholder complaints, no product recalls due to quality issues, complete pay parity, and zero data breaches. The organization also maintains a water positivity index of 1.8 across 30 locations in India.
Founded in 1929, DS Group has built a diversified presence across food and beverage, confectionery, mouth fresheners, hospitality, agriculture, and luxury retail sectors. Its portfolio includes brands such as Catch, Pulse, Pass Pass, Silver Pearls, Ksheer, Rajnigandha, Ovino, L’Opera, Le Marche, Birthright, LuvIt, Chingles, Golmol, and Namah.
With the launch of a pioneering double materiality assessment across all business verticals, DS Group has aligned financial performance with global environmental, social, and governance priorities. The integration of climate-risk evaluation into investment decisions signals a long-term commitment to sustainable growth and positions the company as a model for responsible corporate leadership in India.
